Backing Up - ALWAYS keep a backup of your work.
This means saving everything you do in the labs onto an external
media (eg: memory sticks) and then backing up onto a home computer
if possible.
Security - Please do not help thieves by
leaving your possessions (bags, wallets, assignments) in the
computer laboratories for them to grab.
Lost Property - Write your name on your text
books and any other items you may bring into the laboratories.
Lost items which have been handed in are kept in the Help Desk
office until the end of the session (except for Wallets, purses
which are taken down to the UOW Security Office ASAP).
NO Eating or Drinking - the most common cause
of equipment failure is spilt food or drink on the keyboards
and on the system units. If you want a drink or snack, take
a five minute break and go outside (make sure to take your valuables
and logout before you leave).
Air Conditioning - If you are going to sit
at a machine for a long period of time, wear warm clothing,
as the air conditioning is always on and the labs tend to get
cold even in summer. DO NOT TOUCH THE AIRCONDITIONING.
Before Leaving - Don't forget to logout, before
you leave the machine you were using.
Ejecting External Media - Always "safely
remove media" prior to ejecting from the computer |
